Finally, the Cotton Anniversary!

It is hard to believe it has been two years already since Brian and I tied the knot. Only 170 more years (or so) to go (with the advent of nano-technology we plan to live well into the hundreds). Thanks again to everyone who made our day so special!

And thanks to the Dudley's for sending us these beautiful flowers!

Mississippi is following us!

Female Seeking Male. Enjoys eating cricket frappe and is looking for a short-term relationship. Nothing too serious!

Okay, this is the brown widow we found tonight setting up shop on our patio. Upon further research (okay, a quick Google search) we discovered that brown widows are indigenous to tropical climates and in the US are mostly found in the South...
You tell me how it got here.

I will be calling the exterminator, eo instante!

A Lack of Color

Our first encounter with Phoenix culture! Brian and I visited the Desert Botanical Garden and went on a "Flashlight Tour" last night. Much like the rest of Phoenix, there was a noticeable lack of bright colors, but it was beautiful nonetheless.

Did you know Scorpions glow in ultraviolet light (a black light) because of uric acid found in their outer hyaline layer? Cool. Doesn't make me like them more, but cool.

I posted a few more pictures on Flikr if you are interested:

Hooray, Phoenix!

Finally, back in civilization again! So many shiny objects to grab our attention!

I think Brian is already wishing for the days when there were only a handful of places to go shopping. Get ready to buy stock in the consumer retail and restaurant industries, because I am quite sure that our arrival here has already prompted a spike in futures trading.

Unfortunately, such rabid spending does not bode well for our future, even with Brian's recent promotion to 1st Lt, so we will have to be doing more eating in. This is not a bleak prospect however, as the grocers of Phoenix are able to procure fresh produce, meats and other delectable groceries. Someone should let the grocers from Columbus, MS in on the secret.
